About the Malaysia Income Tax Calculator

This free calculator estimates your YA2026 annual income tax as a Malaysian tax resident. Enter your yearly income and personal reliefs - EPF (capped at RM4,000), life insurance (RM3,000), lifestyle (RM2,500), PRS (RM3,000), SOCSO and more - and it works out your chargeable income, charges it bracket by bracket on the official LHDN scale, applies the RM400 individual and spouse rebates where they qualify, and shows your total tax payable and effective rate.

The tax schedule comes from the same statutory engine that powers HRWork payroll. For your monthly take-home pay and PCB deduction, use the Salary Calculator.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are Malaysia's income tax rates for YA2026?
Resident rates range from 0% on the first RM5,000 of chargeable income up to 30% above RM2,000,000, with steps at 1%, 3%, 6%, 11%, 19%, 25%, 26% and 28%. Non-residents are taxed at a flat 30% with no reliefs.
What is chargeable income?
Chargeable income is your annual income minus your personal reliefs - the automatic RM9,000 individual relief, spouse and child reliefs, plus capped reliefs such as EPF (RM4,000), life insurance (RM3,000) and lifestyle (RM2,500). Tax is charged on this amount, bracket by bracket.
What is the RM400 tax rebate?
If your chargeable income is RM35,000 or less, you get an individual rebate of RM400 off the tax charged, and another RM400 for your spouse if they have no income. This calculator applies the rebates automatically.
Is this the same as PCB?
PCB (MTD) is the monthly deduction your employer withholds; this page estimates your full-year tax after all the reliefs you enter. Use the HRWork Salary Calculator for the monthly PCB figure.

Tax rates follow the YA2026 resident schedule from the LHDN Specification for MTD Computerized Calculation - the same statutory engine that powers HRWork payroll. Relief caps follow the current LHDN list of personal reliefs; eligibility for each relief is your responsibility. Results are estimates and exclude zakat and non-employment income. Always refer to LHDN for official figures.
